Always Cut Allowance For Yourself
Things of the Heart
We talked about cutting allowance for others’ clothes.
Now it’s time to cut allowance in your own.
Stretched and Stretched…Stressed and Strained
This is about suffocating yourself with expectation and ambition.
I’m not saying don’t dream — please, soar. But in reaching those heights, should it be at the expense of your peace, to the point where you can’t breathe, and your health is declining?
Yeah, “no pain, no gain,” I know.
But I’m sure that saying never involves destroying your mental and physical health with stress and anxiety.
Yes, chase after what you want. Your destiny or dream won’t consume you if it’s truly for you.
And maybe it is for you — but the route you’re taking might not be, or maybe it’s simply not the time yet. Maybe you just need to wait a little longer.
I know you see others where you want to be. You hear stories of those who sacrificed everything — their health and even their souls — to get there.
But here’s the question (one you rarely see answered because it’s covered up with makeup, fine clothes, and fake smiles):
Are they at peace, even at that height? Are they healthy? Is their soul intact?
Discernment is important — learn to search for the real answer.

Are you beating yourself up to be the best?
Are you draining every ounce of life from your body just to reach that level?
Are you letting yourself be pressured into getting ahead — in career, academics, or social life — too quickly?
Allowance for Breath
Pause and breathe. Ask yourself:
If I get there, will I actually enjoy the accomplishment?
Because many times, we’ve become too bruised to enjoy what we fought for. We think peace will come once we arrive, but by the time we do, we’re so broken we can only feel pain.
Chase great things. Be disciplined and hardworking. But once your breaking stops bringing growth and only pain and more brokenness — speak to someone (a trusted family member, a friend, or even Needful Things).
Take a breath. Step back a little. Check your peace level and your health.
Ask God — pray — for wisdom.
The easiest way is to let Him lead you, because He will never lead you astray.
He leads you in paths of righteousness and peace — teaching you discipline, faith, and endurance without compromising your health and soul.
He will take you to great heights, and He will preserve you there.
Allowance in Failure
Sometimes, we eat ourselves up when we fail or fall short of expectations. Shame and disappointment pierce like a stake in the heart — keeping us awake, restless, and haunted by what ifs.
It traps us in a dark pit of self-pity and quiet desperation.

Don’t get stuck in shame. Rise up — there is life, there is hope.
Give yourself allowance even in failure. Reflect, yes — do a critical review, but not a critical teardown.
Rest. Heal. Learn.
And most importantly, surround yourself with good people who cut allowance for you — people who remind you that you are still growing, still worthy, still loved.

Conclusion: The Measure of Peace
There’s a difference between stretching and tearing.
Growth stretches you — pressure breaks you.
Learn to know the difference.
Because success without peace is still failure, and achievement without rest is just exhaustion in disguise.
So, cut allowance in your own clothes.
Leave room for grace — for patience, for peace, for breath.
Even as you build, don’t forget to live.
Because what good is a dream if you can’t breathe inside it?
