Mirror Mirror
Things of the Mind
Sometimes, I wonder: are people truly aware of themselves?
Do they see their personalities and attitudes?
Are they in tune with their actions and reactions?
There should be a name for this kind of awareness—or the lack of it—but I don’t know….🌚
From what I’ve observed, there are two types of self-unawareness:
1. The Unaware by Default
These are people who are simply oblivious to themselves.
Maybe it’s the result of their upbringing.
Maybe they’re neurodivergent.
Whatever the reason, they lack conscious engagement with who they really are. They go through life with little reflection.
2. The Unaware by Design
These ones are unaware because they’re living in a false identity—deliberately or subconsciously.
They either ignore their true selves or try so hard to be someone else that they forget who they ever were.
They don't ignore themselves out of naivety but out of a desire to become another image.
In both cases, I wonder:
How do you stay accountable to yourself when you don’t even know who that “self” is?
How do you strengthen your character or personality if you’ve never taken stock of it?
Because news flash!
You can change who you are.
You can transform your personality, attitudes, and habits.
You are not a prisoner of you.
It’s simple… but not easy.
But here’s the thing:
If you’re not aware of yourself, how can you properly perceive others?
Worse—how can you perceive God or spiritual things? Can you, really?
This whole train of thought comes from reflection.
We’re at the end of Needful Things’ one-year anniversary month.
And I’ve been evaluating: who am I? What have I projected this past year?
It hit me—so many people are disconnected from truth, from themselves.
Off-track. Unsure. Oblivious.
Have they stopped to process what is real and what’s just noise?
But this is about me.
I’ll write a fuller piece later—one more comprehensive, one that dives deep into self-awareness and honest self-assessment.
But for now, here's where I’m at:
I am hungry. 🫥
Hungry for subscribers.
Hungry for thoughtful comments and questions that flip my world upside down.
Hungry for people who think I’m awesome—and believe I’m worth sharing with everyone.
Hungry for real reflection and connections to change lives.
But for now, baby steps 🐾🐾🐾
And that’s the mirror.
That’s the moment.
That’s Needful Things.

This is a beautiful read
It is thought provoking.
A little more use of a persona and more emotion provoking constructay help improve it.
